“There” released on September 27th, 2011
On September 27, 2011 Anzic Records proudly releases the much-anticipated new recording from drummer/composer Ernesto Cervini, "There", recorded live at Cory Weed’s Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, BC.
ABOUT
Drummer Ernesto Cervini has quickly become in demand as a sideman and also as a bandleader in North America because of his unique and deep musicality. Ernesto released his debut CD as a leader, Here, in 2006 to critical acclaim: "Here is a wonderful debut that showcases Cervini's monster chops and compositional abilities." Budd Kopman, All About Jazz. In 2009 his sophomore release, Little Black Bird featuring Joel Frahm on Saxophones was released on Orange Grove Records, and is being distributed by ANZIC Records (both based in New York City.) "Bold Canadian drummer Ernesto Cervini exemplifies "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee", says Ken Micallef from Downbeat Magazine.
The Ernesto Cervini Quartet is an exciting modern jazz quartet , featuring the amazing Joel Frahm (from NYC) on saxophones, which has been making major waves on both sides of the border. Their most recent album, Little Black Bird (ANZIC) has been receiving rave reviews including 4-stars in the August edition of Downbeat Magazine; Bold Canadian drummer Ernesto Cervini exemplifies "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee". Dan Bilawsky from All About Jazz states; With talent this big and music this magical, the only thing "little" about this album is the title. The quartet’s leader, Ernesto Cervini is a fiery and imaginative drummer and composer, and he matches wits with Frahm and the rest of the group (Adrean Farrugia on piano, and Dan Loomis on bass) through excellent musical interplay, and deep groove.
MEM3 is the culmination of 8 years of close musical and personal friendship between three musicians from three different parts of the globe. The trio consists of Michael Cabe on piano from Seattle, Washington, Mark Lau on bass from Sydney, Australia and Ernesto Cervini on drums from Toronto, Canada. Their debut album Pennsylvania Grey is made up of original compositions from all three musicians as well as one traditional hymn. The group’s sound is influenced by the trio sounds of the great Oscar Peterson, Peter Erskine and EST.
Myriad is a contemporary piano trio from Toronto featuring three young musicians/composers who are in demand as sideman and bandleaders in Toronto and across Canada; Chris Donnelly on piano, Dan Fortin on bass and Ernesto Cervini on drums. The band is a collective in the true sense of the word. Each band member offers his own original compositions to the band repertoire as well as offering his unique voice to the group. Influences include the Keith Jarrett trio, the Brad Mehldau Trio, the Bad Plus and Thelonious Monk.
