Greetings for hot and sticky (and sometimes stinky) New York City!

I'm here for the month of August to study (with Clarence Penn) and play gigs, as well as spend time with my new nephew Ethan. Things are going great! I'm looking forward to playing with my quartet at the 55 Bar next Monday, August 16th (@ 7pm.) Speaking of the quartet, I just got news that we will be embarking on a fall tour, thanks to the help of the . We will be leaving on October 15th and will be performing in Calgary, Saskatoon, Brandon, Vancouver, Kamloops, Toronto and Ottawa. It will be a blast!

In other news, our album Little Black Bird continues to get great reviews on both sides of the border. We were recently reviewed in All About Jazz, and received perhaps my favorite quote to date; "With talent this big and music this magical, the only thing "little" about this album is the title." You can check out that review and others on the press page.

Anyways, I believe that's it for now. More exciting news to come, including a possible live album, and (hopefully) a festival tour in 2011!

Looking forward

4 Stars in Downbeat!!!

So, my new album "Little Black Bird" was reviewed by Ken Micallef in the August issue of Downbeat Magazine. The review was very positive, and I received 4 stars. Hooray! Here's an excerpt of the review; "Bold Canadian drummer Ernesto Cervini exemplifies "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee..." You can check out the whole review here.

I'm awaiting some other exciting news, so another more indepth news update will follow.

Looking forward

Greetings and Salutations

I hope you are keeping healthy and happy. I've been keeping busy here in Toronto, with a variety of different projects on the go. I've been happy to add some new projects to my roster. One is a Sweeney Todd Project which features the very talented vocalist, Alex Samaras. We've done a handful of performances of this now, and they have been met with much enthusiasm. Another exciting new project is Strange Attractors, a modern jazz quintet which features Brownman on Trumpet, Ryan Oliver on Saxophones, Dave Restivo on Keys, Mark Cashion on Bass and myself on drums. You can get info, and see some video clips of that group at our new website. The other recent new project I've been working on is called Idioteque and we are a Radiohead cover band. We did our first gig a couple weeks back at the Tranzac, and it was a great success. We will be performing again in September.

Enough of the past...here's what's exciting coming up! First off, I'm going to New York on Friday to meet my brand new nephew, Ethan Jonah Lev-Ari. My sister (wonderfully talented singer Amy Cervini) gave birth on April 26th, and I'm very excited to meet the cute one. Also, while in New York I will be playing my CD Release for Little Black Bird at the Cornelia Street Cafe. The album has been getting great reviews on both sides of the border, and it will be reviewed in Downbeat Magazine in the August issue! Speaking of New York and August, I recently received a grant from the to travel to New York and study with one of my favorite drummers, Clarence Penn. I will be spending August in NYC, and then going back every couple months during the school year for lessons. I'm looking forward to this opportunity to study with an amazing drummer, and equally amazing teacher!

Finally, here's a glance at some exciting gigs coming up. I will be bringing two different trios to the Rex to play in June. On June 5th, I will be joined by Dave Restivo on piano and Dan Fortin on bass. On June 19th, I will be performing with Kelly Jefferson on saxophone, and Pat Reid on bass. Both gigs should be really great, and quite different. I'm looking forward to sharing the stage with these wonderful musicians!

Well, that's it for me for now. Stay happy and healthy, and hopefully I'll see you around!

Looking forward,

Happy New Year!

I hope you are feeling reinvigorated with the arrival of a new year. I definitely am!

Every year I take some time to refocus around New Year. For this year, I've decided to start a drumming blog. It's basically thoughts about drumming and also, what I'm working on at the kit. It is in it's infancy, but you can check it out here.

Also, if you've been following my gig calendar over the last couple of years, you may have noticed that I occassionally have a clarinet gig show up on the schedule. I've been keeping my clarinet chops in shape, and I had a great time doing a recording session in October with trombonist Tom Richards. The project is called Unfolding River, and Tom is writing a series of 81 compositions drawing inspiration and structure from the Tao Te Ching. You can check out some of the tracks here. I'm playing clarinet on "For a Moment...", "Background Noise...", "Flow" and "Spring."

Lastly, I have a series of gigs over the next couple of gigs with a variety of different groups. First off, I'll be playing at Hart House with my quartet this upcoming Friday. Next week I have a gig with a new quintet I'm working with that features Ryan Oliver and Brownman at the Trane Studio. After that, I have a series of gigs with both the Jessica Stuart Few and also The Sweeney Todd Project (with Alex Samaras.) More details can be found on the gigs page.

Oh ya, my new CD "Little Black Bird" is now available on iTunes, at the ANZIC Records Online store (free shipping worldwide!) and also in many stores in the United States. It was also featured as the Featured Daily Download yesterday on the All About Jazz website. Please go there and download it, as the more downloads there are, the longer it stays up!

Looking forward,

Home...It's good to be home!

I've had the most amazing couple of months, filled with tons of great music and travel! It all started in September with an Eastern Canada CD Release tour with my sister Amy Cervini to celebrate the release of her new CD, Lovefool. The fun continued at the end of October when I travelled to Japan to perform with Gene DiNovi, Ted Brown and Neil Swainson. That trip was a blast, and you can see pictures from our gigs and travels on the pics page. During that trip we also recorded two albums for the Japanes label, Marshmallow Records. Hopefully they will be released and available some time in the new year. I returned from Japan, and almost immediately left for my Ernesto Cervini Quartet Cross-Canada tour (made possible by the generous support of the .) We had a blast travelling across Canada performing music from the new CD, Little Black Bird. Lastly, once I finished that tour, I went to New York City to play the ACQ Eastern US tour, which started at the wonderful Jazz Standard in New York City(we also performed in Boston, and New Haven.)

I'm happy to be back home for a little while to hang out with my wife Jenny and my cats. Also, I'm very excited about the news that my sister Amy is pregnant! She is due in April, and I'm very excited about the prospect of having a cute nephew! Many projects are on the horizon for next year including a MEM3 Canadian tour, and hopefully some festival gigs for my quartet.

In the meantime, stay happy, healthy and warm!

Looking forward,

Wow, it's been a busy couple of months for me. My apologies for not updating the NEWS more often!

June was a fantastic month for me with lots of fun gigs. In the span of about 4 weeks I got to play with Tara Davidson, Dave Binney, Joel Frahm and Benny Golson. Quite an all-star cast of saxophonists!

I received some fantastic news today! Thanks to the I will be touring across Canada with my quartet in November to celebrate the release of our new CD, entitled "Little Black Bird" The album will be released and distributed by ANZIC Records, a great label based out of New York City. We will be performing extensively through BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan, followed by some gigs closer to home (Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.) All the details are available on my gigs page.

Another group that will be touring and celebrating a new CD is the ACQ (which features my sister, Amy Cervini) Our album, "Lovefool" will be relesed in October and we will be touring Canada and the United States to celebrate the release of this album. Again, details are available on the gigs page.

Lastly, I'm looking forward to travelling to NYC in September to play with the ACQ at the 55 Bar, and then to play with Monday Off at Birdland. These gigs will be super-fun, and a great way to conclude a busy summer, and propel into an exciting fall!

Currently, I'm packing my bags and getting ready to embark on a European vacation with my wife, Jenny. It will be amazing, and definitely needed after a couple of hectic months. Hope you are all feeling as happy and positive and I am! Enjoy the warm weather while it's here, and I'll see you around the scene!

April 3rd, 2009

Good day to you, on this rainy April morn! So, it's been a while since I updated the NEWS, but contrary to what you might think, there have been tons of exciting things happening in my life! The most pressing project has been the recording, and production of my new album. The album was recorded when Joel Frahm was visiting from New York, and it also features Adrean Farrugia on piano and Jon Maharaj on Bass. The album was recorded on December 1st and 2nd at Canterbury Music Corp by Jeremy Darby. I recently took it to New York to have it mixed by the genius sound engineer, James Farber. I couldn't be happier with the results, and I'll be getting in mastered next week! The quartet will be performing at the Rex during the Toronto Jazz Festival to celebrate the release of the album. The CD Release is on July 3rd, so mark it in your book!

Another project that has been dominating my life is conducting the Hart House Jazz Ensemble. I was hired as their conductor last summer, and this weekend we will be finishing up our season with gigs at the Arbor Room and The Rex in Toronto. I have had a blast leading this group, and am looking forward to continued success with the band. This year we played some great music, and we worked with great Toronto artists Mike Murley and Heather Bambrick.

There are some other exciting projects upcoming. At the end of April, I will be travelling out west with the Tara Davidson Quartet to do some gigs in Calgary and Edmonton. In June, I will be joining Michael Herring's "Vertigo" for their 2-night CD Release at the Rex during the festival, featuring Dave Binney. This is a great band, and I'm psyched to join them for their release. Another project I've started working on is a tribute to Benny Goodman by Gene DiNovi. We will be performing a couple times this summer, and it looks like I'll be travelling to Japan with Gene and Neil Swainson in October for some gigs and recordings. Exciting stuff!

So, that's the news with me! As always, more details about my upcoming performances can be found on my gigs page.

December 5th, 2008

Happy Holidays! The Christmas season is ramping up at my house, as we are planning on putting up the tree today! Maybe I'll put up some outdoor lights before it gets to cold.

In musical news, I just finished a little tour with my quartet featuring Joel Frahm, and it was a huge success. We played a clinic on Friday to a very attentive group of students at the University of Toronto, and then on Saturday night we played at the Rex. The audience was amazing (so quiet) and we were having a blast on stage! On Monday and Tuesday, we went to the Canterbury Music Corporation to record our second album. The two days of recording went great, and I'm really looking forward to listening to the stuff, and releasing it (probably in June or July '09.) Many thanks to the wonderful audience at the Rex, Tom Tytel for booking us, the and of course to my band.

In other news, I will be leading the Hart House Jazz Ensemble through some gigs tonight (Friday, Dec 5th) at the Arbour room, and Sunday (the 7th) at the Rex. This is a great ensemble run out of U of T which features music and non-music majors. We'll be playing the music of Thad Jones, The Boss Brass, Frank Sinatra, Bjork, Christian Overton and some of my own (including an ode the Mario Brothers.) Should be a bunch of fun! Other upcoming gigs include a couple dates with Tara Davidson and her wonderful band, and some more playing with Sophia Perlman. All the details can be found on the gigs page.

That's it for now. Stay warm, and happy holidays!

October 21st, 2008

I guess that's how things go...A flurry of activity is sometimes followed by a relative lull. So, after all the action of the spring, things were relatively quiet this summer and I had time to enjoy the new house, and new wife! But, things are happening now. I have some gigs in the next couple months with the ACQ in NYC, and our new album (which we recorded earlier this year) is sounding great, and will be available early next year.

In very exciting news, I will be bringing Joel Frahm from NYC to perform with my quartet at the end of November. We will then be going into the studio and, thanks to the assistance of the , will be recording my second album. Hooray! Big thanks to the Ontario Arts Council. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity.

MEM3 is on a bit of a baby break, as our bassist (well, his wife) gave birth to an adorable baby boy named Jack Lau. MEM3 will be hitting the clubs again soon, and we are already working on material for out second album.

Outtrip, the Toronto-area rock band I play with, released out debut album last month to great reviews. It is available on iTunes and CDBaby, and we are playing quite a bit around the GTA. More info is available on my gigs page.

Lastly, there are some exciting gigs that may be happening with the Tara Davidson Quintet. I won't mention anything now (just in case it doesn't happen), but keep your eyes here as I will announce any exciting news the minute it happens!

Hope you're doing well, and hopefully we'll see you at some gigs real soon!

March 1st, 2008

Well...I don't remember ever updating this news page so often. Must mean exciting things are happening!

OK, exciting thing #1. MEM3, my new trio with Michael Cabe and Mark Lau recorded an album this past summer, and it's now for sale! You can purchase it at CD Baby, and I'm sure it'll be on iTunes shortly. It was also featured as a daily download at All About Jazz. You are invited to a sampling of the new album, free of charge! Lastly, we have a Canadian CD Release Tour, and an American CD Release coming up. On April 11th, we will be playing at the 55 Bar in New York City. On May 18th, we will have our Canadian release at The Rex Hotel and Jazz Bar in Toronto, Canada. There are more gigs surrounding that one in Canada, so please check the gigs page for more details.

In other fun news, the ACQ is going back into the studio. That means, a new album as well as new video clips of us recording, and silly pictures! Hooray!

February 6th, 2008

Big news, big news!

Tara Davidson's most recent album, entitled Code Breaking was nominated for a 2008 Juno award for Best Traditional Jazz Album. This is very exciting for me, as it's the first album I've played on that has been nominated for an award! Congratulations Tara, and I hope you win! And become very famous!

January 30th, 2008

Alrighty....So, in addition to the exciting gigs I have with my own quartet and Amy in the next little while (check them out on the gigs page) I also have 2 exciting CD's that should be released in the next couple months.

The first is an album that was recorded during my last month living in NYC. It's a culmination of 4 years of playing with 2 of my favorite people and musicians in New York, Michael Cabe and Mark Lau. The group is called MEM3, and we are very excited about the album we've put together! Check out the MEM3 page for more details, reviews and purchasing details as they become available.

The second album I've been working on is with an indie rock band in Toronto. The band is called Out Trip and we're very excited about our pending release. Some other exciting news may be brewing with this band, but I will keep it to myself until it becomes a little more concrete!

Also, the music magazine Hart House at U of T, entitled "Demo" did a feature interview with me for their February issue. You can check it out on my press page, or just click here.

Lastly, a small reminder...the Ernesto Cervini Quartet will be playing at The Pilot on February 24th from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and then at The Rex on March 1st at 9:30 pm. Hope to see you there!

December 13th, 2007

Happy Holidays!
My apologies for not updating this space. This has been the craziest couple of months in my life! I'm living in Toronto now, married and father of the cutest kittens.

Music news....well, there's been all sorts of fun gigs in the past couple months. The ACQ was recently in Toronto for their fall tour, and we enjoyed a great gig at the Rex. Pictures of the gig will be up shortly. There are pictures up from the ACQ's gig at Cornelia Street in October. Upcoming gigs and projects? Let's see...there's all sorts of exciting things coming up next year. I'll be playing at the Pilot (in Toronto) with my quartet in January, and at the Rex in March. I'm currently working on summer festival gigs, and I will post them as soon as all the details are ironed out. Also, I have all sorts of exciting gigs coming up with my sister Amy, and the ACQ. In January, we'll be playing at the 55 Bar (in New York) followed by a gig at Joe's Pub in March and another at The Cornelia Street Cafe in May. We will also be working on recording another CD this year. All the tunes are wicked and ready to go, so we can't wait to get back in the studio.

One other exciting piece of news. Right before I moved back to Toronto, I recorded an exciting trio album with two of my closest friends, Michael Cabe and Mark Lau. The album is almost finished, and should be released early in the new year. Keep your eyes and ears open for the debut album from MEM3, entitled Pennsylvania Grey.

Hope you're doing well, and keeping warm.
Much love

June 6th, 2007

Changes, changes...
So, I'm moving back to Toronto in a couple weeks, June 24th. I'll be getting married mid-July, and then trying to get my self re-established in the Toronto scene. I will still be travelling back to New York on a monthly basis to do gigs. For example, in September I will be performing at the Cornelia Street Cafe with the ACQ. For any other gigs, you can check my gigs page.

In other news, I just finished recording a project with a unnamed trio featuring my favorite New York rhythm section, Michael Cabe (piano) and Mark Lau (bass.) I will be putting up more info on the site as the CD nears release.

Stay cool and if you're in Toronto, give me a shout!

March 1st, 2007

Exciting news! My CD has been reviewed in this month's Jazz Improv Magazine (New York Jazz Guide.) You can check out the review on my Press page, or the "Here" page. If you live in New York, you can pick this magazine up at most jazz clubs. Also, I've been spotlighted in All About Jazz Magazine. Again, you can check this out on the press page, or pick one up at your local New York jazz club.

In other news, the ACQ CD Release in Toronto went off without a hitch (excpet for the fact that my luggage was lost, and I still haven't got it back!) The Rex was packed, and we had a blast on stage. Thanks to all those that made it out. Pictures from that gig will be going up shortly. We have booked out New York release for April 23rd at the 55 Bar, and are looking forward to that.

Lastly, if you haven't already, please mark March 11th on your calendars. I will be having my New York City CD release at the Cornelia Street Cafe. This show will feature a great band; Joel Frahm, Kristjan Randalu and Joe Martin. I'm very excited about this gig, and I hope you can make it out!

Stay well, much love.

February 10th, 2007 - Greetings

So, my New York CD Release has been booked. I will be playing at the Cornelia Street Cafe on March 11th. The gig will feature Joel Frahm, Kristjan Randalu and Joe Martin. The band will be great, and I'd love to see you there! The CD has continued to get great reviews including a recent one in Wholenote magazine. Also, i was recently interviewed by the Toronto Star for an article that will be in the paper in the next couple weeks. Keep your eyes open! The article features an interview with myself and the legendary Phil Nimmons.

In ACQ news, we are eagerly awaiting the delivery of our debut CD. We will be at the Rex for our Canadian CD Release on Saturday, February 24th. If you live in Toronto, you should come check this band out. It's definitely a different take on the vocal-led quartet.

Other exciting gigs are being lined up in March and April. Keep your eyes on my gigs page for more info.

January 10th, 2007 - Happy New Year! I hope you had a safe and happy holiday! I know I did. So, as usual I've been keeping very busy with many different projects on the go.

The first, and most important, is my brand new debut CD, entitled "Here." The CD Release at The Rex was a great time, and it has been receiving rave reviews. You can read these reviews in their entirety on my "Here" page, or on the press page. All the info about the CD is available on the "Here" page, including purchasing info (very important!!!) The first track from the CD was recently featured as a free download at All About Jazz.com. If you haven't downloaded this yet, please do!

Secondly, Monday Off's brand new, self-titled CD has been released and we had a great release gig at the Jazz Standard. It was a lot of fun, and the audiences really enjoyed the shows. A song from this CD was also featured at All About Jazz.com, and the CD can be purchased on CD Baby.

Lastly, the ACQ is preparing for the release of our debut album, and we will be playing a CD Release in Toronto at the Rex Hotel on February 24th. The CD has been a blast to work on and the show will be great. If you live in Toronto, don't miss this great event. If you live in New York City, you can see the ACQ at the 55 Bar on February 8th from 7-9 pm. There will be a CD Release in New York announced shortly.

That's it for now. I'm playing many other exciting gigs in the coming months. Please check my gigs page for more info.

November 9th, 2006 - Well, hello there. Hope you are enjoying the fall weather (it's an amazing day in New York today!) I am enjoying it thoroughly. I'm also keeping busy with some exciting musical projects.

First of all, I had a great trip to Toronto earlier this month to celebrate the release of Tara Davidson's second album, "Code Breaking." We had a great CD Release at a packed Rex, and also enjoyed a fun gig a couple days later at the Pilot.

My first CD ("Here") has started selling in Canada, and I will be having the CD Release at the Rex in a couple weeks (Thursday, November 23rd.) I'm very excited about this, and I'd love to see you there! If you can't wait, and you must buy the CD immediately, you can purchase it here. I am working on a New York CD release, so stay tuned...

Also, I just received my copy Monday Off's newest self-titled album. It sounds great, and it features one of my own arrangements (Blackbird.) We will be performing at the Jazz Standard on December 4th to celebrate this new release.

Lastly, the ACQ has been busy working on our debut album as well as learning a whole bunch of great new tunes. I don't want to give anything away, but I've been practising my accordion chops... We will be performing at the 55 Bar on November 29th, and we'd love to pack the place. The ACQ will be heading to Toronto in February to play a CD Release at the Rex, and there will be more gigs added shortly!

Please be safe, and enjoy this unseasonably warm weather (at least where I am), while it lasts!

September 30th, 2006 - Greetings to all. What an exciting time this is for me! I currently have 4 different CD's in production. The CD I recorded with Monday Off a couple years ago will be released in the next couple weeks. This is even more exciting because we have a CD Release gig in December at the Jazz Standard in NYC. Tara Davidson's newest CD (Code Breaking) has just been completed, and we have a CD Release at the Rex on October 13th. My CD has also been completed, and is at the manufacturers right now. I will be playing a CD Release gig at the Rex on November 23rd, and I'd love to see you all there. Lastly, the ACQ just finished recording (on Thursday) an album and it went great. This should be available some time early in the new year.

In other exciting news, I recently received a stick endorsement from Headhunters Sticks. I'm very happy about this, as I'm a huge fan of their products. I'm currently using HH B Bop Hickory Sticks, HH Jazz Brushes, and HH Bandits. They are great sticks, and I highly recommend them to all drummers.

Also, I'm getting married! On Wedesday, August 16th I proposed to Jenny Petch, and believe it or not, she said yes! We are looking to tie the knot sometime this summer.

Lastly, I have decided to start a photoblog to give myself another creative outlet. If interested, you can check it out here.

Thanks for reading. I hope you're doing well, and I'll see you around soon!

July 17th, 2006 - Hey there. Hope it's cooler where you are! I'm currently hanging out in New York in the intense heat. I just got back from Toronto where I was recording a CD with Tara Davidson. It was pretty crazy hot there as well! Anyways, enough about the weather.

I'm keeping pretty busy here in New York. Tonight, I'm playing at the Cornelia Street Cafe with the Dan McCarthy Trio. In the coming weeks, I have gigs with the Amy Cervini Quartet, COMBO, and Monday Off as well as my own quartet. Check out the full schedule on my gigs page.

In other exciting news, my own recording went well, and I'm aiming for a November release. Also, in September I will be recording an album with the Amy Cervini Quartet, and two other albums I'm on (with Monday Off and Tara Davidson) should be released before Christmas. Very exciting!

May 16th, 2006 - Hello folks. Well, I've been keeping myself extremely busy in New York. I've been playing all sorts of gigs with different groups, and I have a very exciting summer coming up. I'll be plying a bunch of gigs in New York and Toronto in the next couple of months, and most importantly I'll be recording my first CD in Toronto in June. I'm very excited about this project, and also very excited to have Mike Murley, Adrean Farrugia and Jon Maharaj recording with me. Keep your eyes peeled, as I will be having a CD release in both Toronto and New York City in the coming months.

Some other fun upcoming gigs include a bunch with the Amy Cervini Quartet, including a show at the 55 Bar in June. I'll also be performing with Melissa Pisarzowski at the Downtown Toronto Jazz Festival and the Beaches Jazz Festival.

January 20th, 2006 - Happy New Years! I had a great holiday, spending my time split between New York and Toronto. I did some fun gigs in Toronto last week, with my own quartet as well as the Melissa Pizarowski Sextet, and the Jon Maharaj trio.

I'm keeping myself busy in New York. I have two weekly gigs right now. On Tuesdays, I'm hosting a jam at Night and Day Restaurant in Brooklyn with the Dan McCarthy Trio. In fact, a picture of us performing was in this Sunday's Daily News. Speaking of Sundays, I'm playing at Blue Angel Restaurant on the upper west side with the Chris Budhan Trio every Sunday.

I have some exciting upcoming gigs that I'm looking forward to. On February 21st, I'll be performing with Monday Off at Sweet Rhythm (with Joel Frahm on sax!) Shortly thereafter, I'll be traveling to Toronto with a quartet to perform at the Rex on February 26th (featuring my sister Amy on vocals.)

All the rest of my gigs are listed on the Gigs page. Check out the sounds clips and pics as I've been updating them fairly regularly. Stay healthy and happy!

October 8th, 2005 - It looks like it's time to update. I was going to wait until my internet in my new apartment was hooked up, and give the whole site an overhaul, but I got an e-mail from my mom advising me that it may be time to update my site. So, here's what's new.

I had a great summer. I was very busy; touring Europe with my girlfriend, performing in PEI and Cape Cod, and of course Toronto. I'm now back in New York, living in Brooklyn. I'm enjoying the new life (sans-school.) Some exciting projects coming up including a mini-Canadian tour with the Rob Mosher Quartet in February!

Well, that's all the new news for now. Stay healthy, and happy!

June 9th, 2005 - It's been a while since I updated this section of my site. Life has been pretty busy and there are many exciting things on the horizon. I'm finished my schooling at The Manhattan School of Music, and I received my Masters Degree.

I'm currently in Toronto preparing for my trip to Europe with my girlfriend, Jenny. After that, it's Cape Cod for a couple days with the Spirit Ensemble, and then PEI for 3 weeks with Pat LaBarbera. And mid-August, I'll be flying back to New York to play at Birdland with Monday Off. So that's my summer, hopefully your's is looking just as exciting!

January 20th, 2005 - So hear we are in 2005. Pretty much the same, isn't it?

Well, I have just finished a bit of an overhaul on the site. I hope you like it. If you have any comments, please send me an e-mail (ernesto@ernestocervini.com)

I'm looking forward to the next couple weeks. I have a really busy upcoming schedule (8 gigs in 12 days!) Check it out on my gigs page, and if you're available please come on out and support live jazz.

Anyways. I hope everybody is doing well. I added some pics from recent performances in New York as well as Toronto. Please check them out.

Later!

December 2nd, 2004 - Well, I recently got in trouble because I'm not updating this page often enough. Sorry everybody! Life here has been pretty hectic. School's keeping me super-busy (of course.) I'm also working on "The Wizard of Oz" at City College, and that opens next week. I recently returned from a week long visit in Toronto. It was great to see all of my friends from TO again, and I'm eager to return for the Christmas holidays.

So, I guess I should include some music news here... Besides working on the Wizard, I have a gig on Boxing Day (Dec. 26th for all you Americans) at the Rex Hotel with my trio. That should be a good time. I also have some cool gigs coming up in January in NYC. You can check these out at my Gigs page.

Well, that's all I have to say for know. Take care and stay warm!

September 15th, 2004 - So here I am, back for one last year of school. Things are starting pretty well. I have a couple gigs in September, including one at the 55 Bar which I am really excited about.

In other news, a transcription I did is for sale (at the suggestion of the performer, Geoff Keezer) at ReallyGoodMusic.com

Besides that, I'm just hangin' out in New York, and celebrating Canada's world dominancy in hockey. Later!

May 27th, 2004 - Well, it's been a while since I wrote anything here.

I'm back in Toronto for the summer. I had a great year at Manhattan School of Music, and I'm really looking forward to next year. I'm also looking forward to the release of the new Monday Off CD which I played on. The CD also features some great instrumentalists such as the great Gene Bertoncini on guitar, and Anat Cohen on clarinet.

So...the plan for this summer is lots of gigs with the Toronto All-Star Big Band as well as a few of my own gigs. I'm also looking forward to attending the Brevard Summer Jazz Workshop in North Carolina in June. That should be a great experience.

I hope your summer is fun, and productive!

January 25th, 2004 - Greetings all. I hope you had a fun and relaxing holiday!

WOW!! I just spent the last four days at the IAJE Conference here in New York. It was amazing. I saw performances by; The Maria Schneider Orchestra, The Vanguard Jazz Band, The Bill Mays Trio, Nicholas Payton, The Dave Holland Quintet, Mulgrew Miller and the New York Voices. It was incredible!

In somewhat exciting news, the Ernesto Cervini Trio was chosen as an alernate for the Carnegie Hall Jazz Workshop in March. Hopefully we'll get an opportunity to attend that, because it sounds killin'!

Well, that's all for now. I'm off to Florida on Friday for fun in the sun (and gigs with the Toronto All-Star Big Band.) Enjoy the weather wherever you are!
